Location

Located in the North East of England, the Teesside Freeport is the UK’s best connected freeport, unlocking global markets, major trade hubs and offshore projects.

The UK’s best connected freeport

The Teesside Freeport is perfectly placed to offer instant and efficient connectivity, ideal for trading, importing, and exporting. The Freeport gives direct access to ten miles of operational river along the Tees, which is home to some of the deepest berths on the east coast and one of the UK’s busiest ports. Alongside Redcar Bulk Terminal, Teesport handles nearly 30million tonnes of cargo and almost 10,000 vessels every year, providing a gateway to the North Sea, Europe and beyond. A new dedicated quay at South Bank is currently under construction which, when complete, will service the offshore sector.

From a regional point of view, Teesside is centrally located between London and Edinburgh, making it easy to reach the whole of the UK via a strategic road and rail network. These convenient transport links bring the UK’s commercial, industrial and manufacturing regions closer together and make London reachable in under 2 hours 30 minutes and both Edinburgh and Manchester accessible in even less time.

A sophisticated system of railways makes it easy to move cargo around the country through a freight hub which boasts more rail-linked sites than any other comparable area in the north of England.

The A1(M), A19 and A66 link the region to all corners of Britain, with simple access to key arterial routes heading north, south, east and west.

If traveling by road or rail isn’t for you, you can also take to the skies. Teesside International Airport offers connections to London in under an hour, and the rest of the world via the service to Heathrow as well as Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

The area is not only uniquely positioned but has unique infrastructure allowing people and goods to move by road, rail, air and sea, making the Teesside Freeport the best-connected Freeport in the whole of the UK.
